Breeders of Future Dressage Stars

Wolfingham Dalziel

Impeccably bred, he is a product of our frozen breeding program and is by Don Schufro (Donnerhall/Pik Bube) out of a Medallion/Salute mare. His sire, Don Schufro has topped the German FN Breeding Rankings for seven consecutive years now and is a successful international Grand Prix competitor himself, being long listed for Athens in 2004.

Don Schufro is by Donnerhall, who needs no introduction being an international medal winner himself, out of a Pik Bube mare. Pik Bube won 11 out of 12 advanced classes in their only competition season under Herbert Rehbein. On the dam line, Richmeed Medallion is also a successful Grand Prix competitor under Ann-Maree Lourey. Medallion is by May Sherif who also sired two progeny that competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games: Andiamo, then ridden by Otto Hofer and Matador with Kyra Kyrklund. Salute was also the sire of Stirling Stilton who competed internationally with Heath Ryan. Desert Gold was by Jenny Louriston Clark’s Dutch Gold, another international Grand Prix Stallion! His dam Marina, is a half sister to Nick Fyffe's young horse sensation Reverence F. This is a testament to his depth of breeding!

Pedigree aside, if you are looking for temperament in a stallion then look no further. He is incredibly quiet and sensible under saddle and on the ground. A true gentleman!  At three years of age he has only just been started under saddle but by all accounts he is set for a stellar competition career. His paces show flair, cadence and natural ground covering rhythm, particularly the all important canter, it’s amazing! Even as a foal he has shown a balance and ability to collect well beyond his years which bodes well for the future. Even if genetics alone are an indication, (Grand Prix parents and grandparents) then effortless piaffe/passage should be his forte!

We expect him to mature around 16hh His foals have inherited their father’s temperament and movement. We excitedly await this seasons foals by Dalziel and fully expect them to be sensational!

STOP Press!!!

Dalziel has recently attended his first competition and placed third with 64%. The judge commented on his 'Fabulous Paces' scoring with with a eight. In fact he scored mostly 7's and a few 8's only dropping marks for green horse mistakes. Although a little excited to begin with, which was perfectly understandable as this was the first time he has ever ridden among so many horses, he behave impeccably. He was happy to walk on a loose rein near all the other horses without getting 'coltish'. We were understandably proud of him and look forward to this promising career!
